Brief Overview
The University of Malawi is the mother university in Malawi. Teaching started in September 1965 at a newly established campus that had previously been an Asian secondary school in Blantyre.
Today, UNIMA continues to play a vital role in higher education, research and community development. Through UNIMED, students, staff and dependants access quality healthcare through campus services and an accredited provider network.

University History
By 1967, several institutions had been incorporated as constituent colleges of the University of Malawi, including the Polytechnic and Bunda College of Agriculture.
The Zomba campus became central to the university after the movement of several colleges in 1973. Kamuzu College of Nursing and the College of Medicine later became part of the wider University of Malawi history.

The University of Malawi clinic is located near the main campus entrance and is staffed by trained medical personnel.
The clinic provides confidential care to students, staff and dependants, including primary care, counselling and selected specialist services.
